Porthtowan is west of St. Agnes on the north west coast of Cornwall and half way between St. Ives and Newquay. The beautiful sandy beach set under cliffs gave Porthtowan its name, as 'towans' are dunes. There is a natural swimming pool hidden in the rocks filled by the tide.

The village has a surfing equipment hire shop, cafe, store, Post Office,  take-away, a hotel, 2 pubs and the village hall has access to all for internet and email facilities.

The population of Porthtowan is just over 200 and is committed to maintaining the natural beauty and charm of the village and countryside.
