The beach at Maidencombe Devon

Maidencombe is on the south coast of Devon between Torquay and Shaldon.

More of a hamlet than a village it has a quiet sand/shingle beach sheltered by high cliffs (which means that there is a bit of a climb after an exhausting day on the beach!) Toilets are available near the car park, there is a refreshment kiosk near the beach and dogs are allowed.

This is good walking country: the South West Coast Path passes here, plus there are circular walks nearby or you can plan your own.

The Thatched Tavern is popular and
Torquay is three miles away.
