| Seaton is a gateway town to The World Heritage Site. On the coast of east Devon, with its mile long sea front, promenade, gently sloping south facing pebble beach and lovely gardens, Seaton lies in a pretty bay enclosed by the white cliff of Beer Head and the red sandstone of Haven Cliff. The unspoilt countryside has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is plenty of space for everyone. At the western end of the beach is Seaton Hole, a sheltered spot popular for sun bathing. If you have the energy, good cliff path walks may be enjoyed in either direction; the Undercliff is a renowned nature reserve on the South West Coast Path. There is a spacious, level esplanade along the seafront and being well situated for touring the West Country, Seaton is particularly popular with families and the elderly. A rather unique attraction is the Seaton Tramway on which you may ride through lovely countryside along the river, taking in the views of the mudflats and the birds. Bird watching trips are available throughout the year. The town centre was recently pedestrianised and offers leisurely browsing in the many small shops. Carnival week starts on August Bank Holiday.
